What is

High Speed Broadband?

Speeds and Technologies

What can you do with it?

Our world and how business is done started shifting tremendously after the Great Recession of 2008/2009.  As Baby Boomers retire rapidly and a new generation has hold the pace of this change has quickened.  COVID-19 accelerated that change and we see it before our own eyes.  Highspeed Broadband is not a nice-to-have; It is a Must-Have.

How Much

Speed do you

really need?

Speed Need

It all takes bandwidth

Almost anything you can imagine is possible on the Internet today, it's the way today's business happens.  However, that all takes bandwidth, which is the amount and speed of data your "pipe" will handle.

Think of it as an Electrical Service comparison; you can have a 30 AMP Service to your home or a 400 AMP, the bigger the AMP the more electricity you get.  It's the same with Broadband, you can get 3MB service to your home or 1GB (1000MB), the bigger the bandwidth, the more you can do with it.

1000 Bytes = 1 Kilobyte (KB)

1000 KBs = 1 Megabyte (MB)

1000 MBs = 1 Gigabyte (GB)

1 MB = 8 Megabits per second (Mbps)

Here are some general download speed requirements

SOLVING THE SPEED MYSTERY

Businesses have symmetrical requirements & speeds over 1Gbps

500-1000+ Mbps

Works for:

  • Doing a lot of almost anything

Businesses have symmetrical requirements & speeds over 1Gbps

The new US federal standard for basic Broadband is

25Mbps download and 3Mbps upload.

Without this project almost all of Boulder Junction fell below this baseline.

Virtual workers, consultants, and new businesses require even more speed.  They need Highspeed Broadband.
